I've had my 2015 e-golf for a few years now and have loved it. The other day it suddenly wouldn't charge when plugged in at home. Went to VW dealer and they said I need to replace the high-voltage charging connector lock 1 adjuster $1,734, the power button $261 and the shutter grill $1,296. Well over $3k altogether. Their original estimate was $500 higher, but they were able to "knock it down a little". I think the car is worth about $8-$10k. Any suggestions or advice? Thanks

If the power button works, why replace it? Also, how does the shutter grill affect charging?

Very likely, they asked you to replace your grill shutter because of a dead shutter motor, which resulted in these codes: P05A300 and P05A000. Instead of paying $1,296, you can just buy a new or used (used ones are easier to find) shutter motor with PN# 95B965501AA (for less than $100!) and ask your local VW specialist to fit it onto your old grill, the same part is used on various VAG vehicles not specific to the eGolf.

The power button may get "sticky" at times when pressed, again, just grab a new one made for any MK7 Golf from eBay and bring it to your local shop for an easy fix.

Unfortunately didn't see this reply in time, but thank you, good tip.
