Despite the e-Golf’s EV powertrain, it should meet the criteria for being a competent urban patrol vehicle. Equipped with a 115-horsepower electric motor, the torquey mill can propel the e-Golf from standstill to 37mph (60kph) in 4.2 seconds and onto 60mph in about 10 seconds – about the same as your standard Fiat 500.
Range will vary according to payload and driving style, though the ‘stadtpolizei’ (city police) should expect an average of around 80 to 120 miles between charges. Thanks to the e-Golf’s whisper-quiet electric powertrain, we suspect most of that mileage will be spent noiselessly creeping-up on baddies.
