Hello , i have an E-golf 2016 SE.

My question is, is it safe to charge it with a charger that supply 32A ?
Doest it decrease battery life ? If no, what is the beat brand of chargers that provide 32a charging?

Another question, i have the original delphi charger, but when i lock the car, it doesnt lock into the car (you can remove it easily) and tips to get it to be locked?

Thanks

The AC on-board charger (AC to DC converter) is in the car. The on-board charger will accept 30 amps maximum if you have the DCFC package, else 16 amps maximum. If your evse can supply 32 amps or 40 or 50 or 80 amps (any amperage higher than 30 amps), the car will still only accept a maximum of 30 amps (or 16). As long as the pack isn't very hot (above 40 C ), I don't believe charging at 30 amps will decrease battery life. That being said, there is no harm to charge at a lower amperage if you would like to generate less heat in the battery pack.

As to your question about the plug on your L1 EVSE, it is possible the latch on the plug is broken or the plug locking pin on your car is broken. Take it to the dealer ASAP before the warranty expires.

If you have a 2016 SE that doesn't have the quick charge package, then there is no port lock at all. The car only has an AC J1772 inlet.

The car will negotiate and use whatever power it wants and it doesn't matter if the charging station can support higher amperage. You could plug in at a 80 amp station and the e-Golf will only draw 15 or 30 amps depending on which on-board charger your car has. 2016 SE without Quick Charge will only draw 15 amps (up to 3.6kW).

Thanks guys,

Yes because we have chargers (AC) that charge the car with 32a , called Alpha.

I asked a seller here (im in the middle east) and he said its not going to harm the car or the battery, so i posted here to ask.

Should be totally fine. The charger is actually inside the car, the ‘Ac charger’ you plug into the wall is really just a fancy safety switch. The ONLY thing the EVSE does is disable current flow in the cable until it detects a car is plugged in, then it closes the switch and enables current to flow.
