How much will a 2,000 ft hill affect range?

The 8yr/100k mile battery warranty is for 70% capacity. The car should have at least that capacity for the period under warranty.

    Winter Range of e-golf

I've only used the car once in 32F weather so far but my observation was that the battery seems less affected by the cold than my Volt's was. The heat pump seems pretty efficient too, at least at those temps. I imagine it goes south quickly as temp drops. Of course, I'm extrapolating from the...

How much will a 2,000 ft hill affect range?

I wouldn't feel comfortable committing to any commute unless I could make it with 70% of original battery capacity, since VW will backstop you at that point.

Is battery capacity impacted by frequent 100% L2 charging?

If long term is your goal and 90% meets your needs, I'd do it. First, that 87% (assuming it's actually that - do we really know?) is distributed top and bottom. You may be charging to 95% of actual capacity. Second, and this is my cynicism sneaking through, VW would have done everything it...

Charging with a Honda EU2000i generator, and 1.3kw Delphi

You're correct. I have no idea why I divided... You still have to consider charging efficiency though so it won't be quite 7.

Charging with a Honda EU2000i generator, and 1.3kw Delphi

Those numbers sound optimistic. If you're getting 5.5 mi/kwh when you drive and you're charging at 1.3kw, the best you could expect is 5.5/1.3 = 4.2 mi/hr without consideration for charging inefficiencies.

    2016 SEL E-GOLF LEASE - BAY AREA

I like the Model S quite a bit, admire the whole idea of starting from scratch, and the friend I have with one (a P85+) absolutely loves it. That said .... spend any time reading the teslamotorsclub forums and you may want to take a wait and see attitude on the 3. Tesla moves at 100mph all the...

Frustrating experience dealing with VW Car-Net

It took a couple phone calls for me to get car-net working properly. When I called, they gave me the user ID and I set a PIN for the account the dealer had set up, but randomly configured a NEW account at some point, shutting off the old one. The app would say car-net was "locked" for my...

    Replacement battery

Oops. You are absolutely correct. Audi/VW does work with LG Chem but the e-golf and A3 e-tron use Panasonic cells.

    October Sales

I posted in the leasing thread but will add a "me too" here. White/tan SEL in NJ. $1000 out of pocket + 229/mo = $9015 total cost. 7500mi/yr. $13k(ish) buyout. No sales tax on EVs in NJ. That saves some coin. A few annoyances (the radio reset thing, locking charge plug, car-net is flakey)...

New eGolf Owner: Loving it so far! Quick questions

Good info in this thread for another new "owner" (leaser), confirming my car is normal. Funny about the Volt: I had a pretty early one. VIN 777 in fact. Loved it. Never once plugged it into anything but my own EVSE but was ambivalent about what others did. Now, I find myself annoyed by the...

    Replacement battery

That's just the way it is right now. You either choose to play or you don't. If you drive 25k miles/year and expect to keep it for 10 years, the e-golf is probably not your best choice. Some people tried it with the Leaf - the fuel savings really do add up - and it did not work out very well...

    Replacement battery

I read that GM's cell cost (just the cells) will be $145/kWh for the Bolt, which was unexpectedly low. VW and GM both use LG Chem for their cells. I have no idea if they're the same chemistry or not but GM is probably committing to much larger purchases. You have to expect VW's cost is...

    Does this sound OK?

Ooops. 2015. I haven't seen any 2016s in stock. The new infotainment system looks pretty nice on the 2016s (surprised at how bad it is on my car) but I doubt they'll be quite as negotiable, at least at first.

    Does this sound OK?

I'd like to thank stretch here. I used his $9k total payment lease as my goal and got it today. $1000 total initial payment, $229/mo for an SEL in NJ. 7500 miles/yr. Cap cost was $28.xxx so either VW really stepped up or the dealer took it in the shorts. If you are a current VW leaser...
