    Chargepoint plug too big

Dealers say all kinds of stupid stuff. There is no such thing as a station that does AC and DC. A charger SITE may have AC and DC, but the equipment is always separate. In general, there are many more AC charging stations than DC, so there are likely options for you in your area. Use PlugShare...

    Really dumb question about charging

When you charge depends on whether your electric rate plan has time-of-use billing. I save money by charging during overnight hours 11pm-7am. If you're using so few miles per day, set the car to charge to 90% instead of 100%. If you do that, plug it in every time you get home and let it charge...

    Forum Suggestion

I use the "Active Topcs" in the dark gray bar at the top of the site. The topcis that have the leading icon in a red box have new posts. Clicking that icon takes you to the "First Unread" in that thread.

    Electrical system failure: Stop!

If there is an open recall on your vehicle, it should be indicated if you put in the VIN at the website below. https://www.vw.com/owners-recalls/

    Egolf Battery Warranty

If the battery is uniformly degraded due to use in high ambient temperatures for its whole life, they would likely get one from a salvage or similar. If there are some cells that are worse than others, they will just replace those and get the pack back to a point that it should remain above the...

    2019 VW e-Golf SEL A/C problem - repair experience

Call VW Customer Service and complain about the time to repair and ask for a e-Golf specialist to expedite your case. 1-800-822-8987 If they can't get it fixed this week, ask for compensation, especially if you didn't get a loaner vehicle.

Set delayed charge to be ready at 7 AM, but it stops at 8 AM

I observed that our 2015 would require more time to charge than the departure schedule when using the provided L1 charging cord. I believe it is an error in calculation of the start time because the amount of time it would go over was roughly proportional to the amount of energy added to the...

    New eGolf charger error

In the video, you say you're only getting about 2 miles per hour of charging. That cord should deliver 10A at 120V. With charging losses that is about 1.0kW. If you drive with 4mi/kWh efficiency, then you should get 4 miles per hour of charging. Check the settings in the car under e-Manager...

    2017 e-Golf - Slow charging at some L3 Chargers

Don't charge to 100% on DCFC unless you absolutely need the energy to make it to the next charger. By 90% it's probably slower than AC charging. So, for the last little bit, it's faster to just move on, even if you need to plug into a L2 station to make it to the next DCFC.

Negotiating a 2019 SE...Service Contract and GAP Insurance?

If you're buying the car, you should think about whether you want the Service Contract or not. That's mostly an assessment of the reliability of the expensive EV specific components in the car and how long you plan to keep it. In any case, the price is WAY inflated. You should be able to...

Wildly erratic range making car untrustworthy

This is a question that is as old as the e-Golf. See thread from 2015 below. http://www.myvwegolf.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=561&start=10

    2019 eGolf Prices Paid

You should not be asking the dealer for the refund, you should be asking the company that services the plan. You can cancel with the company and they will send you the money back. Of course the dealer is being sleazy about it. That is SOP. The most you should have to ask the dealer for is the...

Wildly erratic range making car untrustworthy

Your experience is a little on the extreme side, but the GOM (Guess-O-Meter) range estimate is just that - a guess at how far you might be able to drive based on the actual battery level and your driving history. Elevation changes will make it go really crazy. I recommend that if you are...

    2019 eGolf Prices Paid

Do you have a friend on the "correct" side of the state line and can use their address? You will probably have to get a Driver's License from Maryland too, but that seems like a small price to pay for the discount. After the transaction is complete, they can't keep you from registering it in VA.

    E-golf 2016 charging question

If you have a 2016 SE that doesn't have the quick charge package, then there is no port lock at all. The car only has an AC J1772 inlet. The car will negotiate and use whatever power it wants and it doesn't matter if the charging station can support higher amperage. You could plug in at a 80...

Tesla wall charger to charge the egolf

They still sell the Jesla based on the Gen2 Tesla Mobile Connector. It's called JESLA JR. I used an original Jesla to charge our 2015 e-Golf for about 30 months before we returned the car. It's a very nice portable solution. I would strongly recommend this over the Go-Cable linked above. Quick...

    PGE new EV rate plans

The other thing that was pointed out in another forum is that EV2-A has re-balanced what is generation and what is distribution. If you are on a CCA and are a near zero or surplus generator, EV2-A may work in your favor because the Winter Off-peak generation component is bigger than the EV-A...

    PGE new EV rate plans

EV-B is still available and requires a separate PG&E meter wired to your service. The typical installation price is about $2,500 to install that kind of metering. People rarely find that it makes financial sense unless they've planned for it ahead of time or their particular service entrance...
