Recently purchased a 2016. Most of the guides I read say that connecting my phone via bluetooth will prompt to connect up Android Auto. It doesnt.

When I look in the center console, there's a panel with an Aux port, but just a hole that's mostly the in shape of USB. I don't know if this vehicle never had a USB port there or if used to be there and was damaged in some way. Can I make Android Auto work without the USB port?

Post a picture of the port to be sure. But if you don't have a USB port, then your head unit doesn't support Android Auto. Sorry.

Not sure what's going on there, but at the minimum you need part 5Q0035222E. Then you need to see if the wires are still back there, it doesn't look like it from your picture. Hard to tell without taking out the cubby and seeing what's back there.

Yeah, I can't easily get a photo of it, but with a flashlight, I just see a cavity, no wires. (and a couple of pencils at the bottom that I guess got shoved in).

I couldn't easily tell how to remove that panel, but there's not a bundle of wires behind the hole.

You can get ideas on how to remove it here:

But you need to remove it anyways to see what's going on back there.
