While there are plenty of videos that tell you how great the e-Golf is, there are few that tell you how to navigate around some of the systems. I'm putting together a series of youtube videos I call e-Golf Real World. The series looks at real everyday issues that the manual doesn't provide enough info on or that are interesting. The link below will take you to the first three. Subjects covered include range, auto wipers, and logos for the radio presets. Hoping to add much more as the weeks go on. Interested in hearing feedback and any suggestions. Thank you.

Just added another video for those who haven't bother to look under the hood. Funny with ICE we always wanted to look, now most people aren't interested at looking a the empty space. Check out the video at

and thanks for watching.

TMPS is not what I thought it would be. What everyone should know. Discover the truth as the e-Golf videos continue.

Thank you

That's 41 PSI, cold tire pressure, first thing in the morning, with no driving on the tire, it's been sitting, overnight.

Indirect TPMS typically uses the ABS sensors to measure the difference in one wheel's rotating speed compared to the other wheels. Hence, it can only detect when one tire is going flat on the assumption that the other three aren't going flat. Plus, it's only good if you reset/recalibrate after setting all the tire pressures first.

Direct TPMS (which the E-Golf does not use) measures the tire pressure at the wheel, through a sensor that's connected to the tire valve. While more accurate, it's much more expensive for the customer because each sensor typically costs at least $30, and the batteries in them last only 5-6 years, and the car's ECU must be reprogrammed to recognize the replacement sensor. You have to change them every time you replace a tire, and they are ruined if you use a can of Fix-A-Flat. Not all cars with direct TPMS will actually display the tire pressure. Those that display the tire pressure are also a pain, because again, the ECU must be reprogrammed every time you rotate your tires as each of their positions change.

All of that said, I prefer the indirect method since Direct TPMS does not avoid having to add air to the tire anyway.

By request for M Cumming, a look at the confusing Departure Time and Climate Control settings in the E-Manager. Also a peek at
Car-Net app.

Just posted a video with the top 15 things you should know about your e-Golf. See how many you know and feel free to share new ones.

Sweet! Thank you!.
Btw, this thread should be 'sticky' in main owner forum as well. Many new owners may not visit 'Technical Discussions'.

I never knew what all those slots for (and many things in the video). They have lots of SD card slots!

@SocaleGolf these videos are great! You certainly got my excitement up before I purchased, and even now that I'm a proud owner, your videos are extremely informative. Thank you.

Someone on the forum mentioned having to change their key fob battery after a year. The owner's manual encourages you to visit the dealer. With a few minutes anyone can easily change the battery at home. Looked on youtube for a good link, but none matched the model fob that came with 2017 e-Golf so I made this video. Enjoy.
