"Shaking" When driving on grated surface of a metal drawbrdg

I bought my 2016 eGolf a couple of weeks ago. I was wondering if anyone has experienced shaking in the 2016 VW eGolf's handling whenever the car is driven over the metal grates common on draw bridges.

The last metal-grated drawbridge here in the LA area was closed to the public sometime last year so I can't personally test it with my car. However depending on the car and the tires it's not unusual for the car to wander like that. Anybody who's ridden a motorcycle across such a surface knows that feeling.

Keep experimenting, vary your speed, and vary the tire pressure in your car. Your tire pressure might be too high, or too low, same with the speed you are traveling on the grated metal. Check your tire pressure on cold tires, on a cold day.

Knew that bridge looked familiar. It's the Park street bridge in Alameda.

I once drove a rental car over that bridge (Mazda 6 I think) and experienced that same sensation. No problems with my normal car, a Subaru Forester.

From what I understand, it's due to tire width and pressure. If the tire sinks down and that gets "caught", it'll pop out and spring the car in a random direction. Increasing tire pressure to make them firmer may help.

Both our gas and electric Golf have the same experience around Seattle. I figure it's a characteristic of the tire in relation to the surface.
