Prevent car from telling off when stepping out.

Hi all,

Is there a way to prevent the car from shutting down when I step out for a minute or maybe even less? (I also tried leaving the keys in the car, but it shut off itself as well)

I was also thinking during the winter if I have to clean snow off the car, it would be nice to keep the car running defrosting/heating up.

Here's what I do: Turn off the car and open the door. Then (without closing the door and with your foot on the brake) turn the car back on. It'll stay on indefinitely now, as far as I know. I use this a lot when passengers are staying in the car when I run into a shop.
