Hi guys,

I contacted VW Santa Monica ( same people who sold the first eGolf on Oct. 31 / http://www.volkswagensantamonica.com/ ) yesterday in regards to when they would be getting the eGolf. Turns out they are accepting pre-orders.

If you are in another state like me (Nevada), you can do the pre-order over the phone. Requirements are a pre-approval credit check and a $500 fully refundable deposit. You let the sales person know what color you want and they will contact you as soon as they get them in. If you don't like the color choice in person, you can pick another one to get delivered and that car will be offered to the next person on the list. I spoke with Armin, who was very helpful in the process.

Right now only 3 colors (white, blue, silver) and two interiors (beige, black) are available. I don't know if this is nation-wide or not as VW.com has more color choices.

Hopefully delivery won't be too far away...

Did this mean they have cars for sale as soon as VW officially announces? Or will they only be demonstrators? Are most/all orders be going to be factory built which means 5 months or more?

Just spoke with Chris Weller, the eGolf specialist at Volkswagen of Santa Monica (310) 829-1888. They have eGolf's sitting at the port waiting to be distributed to the dealers. Depending how far down the wait list you are and what color combination you want will determine the wait. No exact time frame given but said within the next few weeks.

I'm getting the white exterior/black interior, which might be a popular combo. I preferred black on black but white works for me...especially living in the desert.

Just got word from the dealership saying my car was delivered and ready for pickup. So I guess the wait is shorter than we all expected.
