Hi everyone, I purchased a 2019 egolf SE one week ago. Very happy so far. I am planning to install a dash cam. I don't like having the wire all the way to the cigarate lighter.
I am wondering if there is a way to hardwire the dash cam to the interior lights. Have any gurus here done that already? Thanks.

I've installed an Aukey DR02 (which frequently goes on sale on Amazon for $50) on mine. There's a DIY here:

This video for installing an auto-dimming mirror will give you a good idea too on removal of trim pieces:

My own personal tips as follows:

1) I did use an Add-A-Circuit to tap at the fuse panel.
2) I also used one of these 12V to USB converters, along with the long mini-USB cable provided with my camera, to run power to the headliner.

3) Be sure to run your mini-USB cable underneath the curtain airbag.

Wow! So glad the pillar cover is not a PITA to remove like it is on my Mk4 Jetta.

This is something I need to do soon (swap over my dashcam from the Jetta).
