Lousy idea. Really lousy idea. Buy a diesel TDI or gas Golf instead. No, wait, buy a Kia or a Scion instead.

I've toyed with the idea myself - not as an everyday thing, but maybe a couple times a month if convenient.

The first thing to consider is cost and convenience of charging. As mentioned in the other thread, DC fast charging is for occasional use; doing it almost every day is gonna cause battery problems down the road. So you're going to need a spot where you can get a level 1 or level 2 charge at a competitive rate.

The second is more specific to the e-Golf. It has 4 doors, seats 5, and has a roomy interior with good cargo space for a car its size. However, I think the low profile may be an issue for some passengers and would say the Leaf, Soul, or Volt might make more sense if Uber/Lyft will be the primary use.

The e-Golf definitely has more headroom than the Volt. I just looked up the specs and they confirm it's 1.5" in front and almost 3" in rear. This is on the 2016 models.

Not sure about seat height, but the e-Golf felt lower to me. Then again I sat in both on two different days and was wearing different shoes so it wasn't a very scientific test. The Soul and Leaf definitely had higher seats than both, that's for sure.

I have used my eGolf 4 rideshare. I received nothing great positive compliments on my car. I was using my golf in San Francisco and it was working well until I had to go to the airport. As we all know the open freeway is not our friend. So I found myself charging for a couple of hours instead of driving. If I did not have to go to the airport everything would have been fine. I have used it in other areas where I did not have to go on the freeway and it worked great.
