Why August? Where are you located? In the SF bay area there are tons of e-Golfs on dealer lots. For example, Sunnyvale VW has tons of SELs on their lot with nice lease deals ($217/mo for SEL, $159/mo for LE). Surely they can located one for you from another dealer no matter where you are.

I always thought the brooklyn wheel looked very nice on the egolf but at the time I bought in Dec, it seemed too much trouble and the dealer didn't show any interest so I didn't pursue it. I imagine its 2k+ for rims and tires and I don't know about the aerodynamics

Here's another person's opinion (mine) - why in the world would you want to change the wheels on a brand new car that has reasonably nice and certainly unique wheels already on it?
As my son always says, "Wouldn't that money be better spent on college tuition?" (or, insert another non-depreciating investment here)

The brooklyn wheels sure look alot better than the stock ones. About the aerodynamics, the dealer told me I could lose about 10-20% range with other wheels.. But I still think it's worth it, maybe I will use the stock wheels during winter time since the cold weather will decrease the range even further.

I'm surprised VW aren't shipping more to Iceland. I'd have thought with your plentiful electricity that it would be a good market.
I thought about changing the wheels, but I never really liked the Detroit wheels that were on my GTI and I never got around to changing them, so I probably never will on this car either..! I do have a set of spoked VW wheels with winter tires on and my dealer warned me of range reduction if I used them, but I think I'll probably use them next winter. Range isn't an issue for my short commute and the better grip would be worth it.

Well I did look into buying one from Germany but then the dealer here in Iceland lowered the price of e-golf a lot! (from 43,000$ to 38,500$ with all the extras (a normal e-golf costs almost 34,000$)) So I could buy a used one from 2014 from Germany for the same price as a new one in Iceland. I got mine for 38,500$ with ALL the extras available in the vw e-golf. But I don't want to buy one from usa since the dealer will only service vw's from Europe.
All electric cars in Iceland are sold without VAT and tolls which are excluded in the prices above.
