Hi everyone. I had two generations of nissan leaf with a charging station at home. My experience with that car is the following:
1. When plugging in the charger, there is a sort of negotiation between the car and the charger
2. After around half a minute, the charger and the car goes to sleep
3. 6 hours later or whenever the calculated charging start time is, the charger wakes up and charges the car.

I leased the 2016 e-golf starting yesterday so last night was the first time charging.
The weird thing about the e-golf is that it seems to sample the current from the charger more than one time. For example, when i open the trunk to get something, the charger would enable and spend about a minute calculating before going back to sleep. Same thing when opening the driver door.

Has anyone seen this? In the morning, i found the e-golf to be of full charge but i think this behavior to be quite weird. I do not have climate control turned on and most of the settings is default except the nightly profile to delay charging.

Yes, the way the e-Golf handles the charge port lock and the EVSE is different than other EVs sold in the USA.

Whenever you open a door or otherwise wake up the car it does re-check the EVSE connection and ask for the wall power to be activated. This is unusual and unnecessary, but quite harmless.

Ok. Thanks for the confirmation. I will not touch the car too much after plugging it in then.

I lock my 2015 SEL, then plug it in. Look at VW Carnet, and when it's fully charged, I go touch the drvier door handle, open it up, and press the unlock button twice on the drivers door panel, then go unlock the handle for the charger and remove it, and hang it up.
