    Carnet troubleshooting-update:working

As far as I know, Tesla is the only manufacturer to do OTA updates to the actual ECU. They are cutting edge so hopefully lots of aspects of their tech will trickle down to other manufacturers over time.

    Carnet troubleshooting-update:working

    1. I would think / hope that it's only updating CarNet functions. Over The Air updates for the vehicle ECU would be fraught with risks of bad data / corrupted files that could "brick" the ECU and disable the vehicle. 2. I hope so! It's confusing now as to which features are where and the...

    "Action Rejected"

I got it for the first time yesterday trying to start the climate control before leaving work. I immediately re-tried and it worked, so I don't know what the problem was. Just general CarNet flakiness I suppose but your situation sounds worse if it's happening all the time.

12 Volt Starter Battery, what it's for

The eGolf is built on the same assembly lines as the ICE Golfs, and it shares a lot of components with them. The 12V circuits are still the same so the 12V battery is needed to operate everything from the interior lights and door locks to the starter button software. As I understand it, the...

    My new Black 2015 e-Golf

I did the calculations before I traded my 2010 GTI and with all the rebates, I'm basically going to be driving the eGolf for free for the 3 years of the lease. Premium gas would have to stay below $2/gal (regular has just got there here) and my electricity costs would have to go up 50% for me...

Does this e-Golf ad offend you?

I agree. Hopefully as more people see things like the Tesla P85D passenger reaction videos other car makers will feel more confident about promoting the benefits of electric drive. I think they can do that without hurting their ICE sales - most people are still going to buy ICE for the...

    My new Black 2015 e-Golf

    1. CarNet - agreed, it's pretty bad. As far as I can tell it's contracted out to a branch of Verizon though, so not entirely surprising it doesn't have VW levels of fit and finish. 2. Is there noise being played in the cabin or is it leaking in from the pedestrian warning device? I had a 2010...

    How is the range calculated

You're both doing better than me. My data shows between 3 & 4 miles / kWh, mostly around 3.5 That's New England winters for you I suppose...

    Cooling fan

Thanks. I thought that must be it. I'd rather have heat than a silent car though! ;)

    Battery management

So you're saying my hypermiling trip in Eco mode has messed up my estimates for a while ;) I managed to do 22 miles and only knock 4 miles off the estimated range!

    Battery management

Do we need to take care to cycle the battery charge to get maximum range? The reason I ask is that I only recently found out how to change the battery charge percentage and the advice on that screen is to vary it from the default of 100% so I put it at 90%. It didn't seem to make much difference...

Is the real world range really 83 miles?

Yesterday I did my normal 5 miles to work at about 45 - 50 mph with one light, then an errand of 11 miles at about 35- 40 mph. The range estimate said I had 58 miles remaining. I then drove 22 miles through towns in Eco mode with B regen and the range went down to 54 miles..! Then I came home...

Why can't you set the % of charge from the car screen?

Same for me. 10% increments in the iPhone app

Why can't you set the % of charge from the car screen?

Thanks! The grouping of things in the app is not well thought out. I always look for the remote climate control in 'Remote' as it seems to be most like a remote starter for an ICE car, but no, that's in e-Manager too. Driving Data and Status would seem to be a natural fit in e-Manager, but...

    Carnet troubleshooting-update:working

Yeah, there seem to be a lot of issues with it. The dealer couldn't activate it at first on my car, then when it was active it thought I was in a Passat on the phone but the eGolf on the web. I got the same line about the T&C on the web log in, but that didn't fix it. Eventually they pressed...

Why can't you set the % of charge from the car screen?

Thanks Ron, I always forget there's the website too.

    Maine e-Golf Owners

I'm not in ME, I'm in MA but I've noticed the range estimate is usually in the high 60s in the cold days on a full charge. Having said that, once I'm underway, the combination of miles travelled and estimated range remaining usually adds up to around 71 or 72 miles. The sales guy told me that...

    Cooling fan

I find the cooling fan in the radiator is running a lot in my e-Golf. Considering it's January and I'm in New England this seems excessive. I read that they removed the battery cooling between prototype and production, so I wonder what could be causing it to run. Does the heating system use a...

Why can't you set the % of charge from the car screen?

I see a lot of people posting about setting the charge percentage, but I don't see how to do that from the CarNet app. I see a slider that sets what the charging current capability of the charger is, but I don't see where / how to set what the car is going to charge to. Am I missing something?
