    HOV expiration Southern California

The DMV will be mailing a pre-filled application for Red stickers to all registered and eligible White sticker holders. Eligibility is any White sticker issued after 1/1/2017. It doesn't matter when the vehicle was leased or purchased, only when the stickers were issued. If you haven't filled...

San Francisco to Watsonville in a 2016 SE?

Look at the details tab after you "Route Direct". If you change the Speed Multiplier to 0.9, then the total trip energy drops to 19.6kWh. Basically, if you drive slower, you will make it. I would recommend using navigation to keep an eye on your miles to destination. The GOM (Guess-O-Meter)...

    2019 e-Golf 'unlikely'

Nope. It's the same as the 2017. UDDS AER is a very lenient test cycle. The standard practice for calculating EPA range is to average the UDDS cycle with the LA5 cycle and multiply by 0.7. UDDS * 0.7 is 128.8 miles. So, averaging in the LA5 city test will result in the same 125 mile EPA range...

    2019 e-Golf 'unlikely'

However, VW did do the paperwork to get the 2018 and 2019 model year approved with CARB for carpool stickers, approved for sale and earning CARB ZEV credits. https://www.arb.ca.gov/msprog/onroad/cert/pcldtmdv/2018/volkswagengroupofamerica_pc_a4130117_0_z_e.pdf...

Miles Per KW resets on 2018 SEL DAP

This is a known issue with the 2017's.

    2015 e-golf charging questions

Welcome to the GOM, the Guess-O-Meter. The car's guess at how far you might be able to drive depends on your driving history. As long as the analog battery gauge says full, you're full. Your driving style, speed, weather and terrain always determine how far the car will go on a full charge. If...

    Recommendations for Cruise Control kits

I thought about this before. The fancy steering wheel has the cruise control buttons. If you got one off a wreck and installed it properly, it may just send the correct messages to the computers and it might just work. On the other hand, it may require some clever coding to get the car to turn...

VW announces 300 mile range / 15 minute charge car by 2019

The build tool for VW in the US is only to show you what colors and options are available for each trim level. You cannot order anything from the web site and the dealer cannot custom order from the factory. They only thing the dealer can do is try to get the car configuration you want from VW...

    Pit Stop/ Backup camera

If you want the car to remain on for more than 30 seconds after you park, you have to turn the car off, then turn it back on. If the car doesn't move after you turn it on, it will stay on. At least that was my experience with our 2015.

extended warranty for my 2015 SEL.. to buy or nor to buy..

The charge port is one of the problematic items on the US e-Golf. As long as you keep the lock solenoid lubricated with a high quality silicone based lubricant, it should continue to work normally. However, the fix, if required, is a very expensive complete charge port replacement, for a simple...

extended warranty for my 2015 SEL.. to buy or nor to buy..

I don't know if it's a good idea to get it for the e-Golf specifically, but if you do buy it, negotiate the price down. I would not pay more than $2,000. For my RAV4 EV, I got the "New Car" plan before the bumper to bumper warranty ran out. My local dealer where I have the car serviced wanted...

    Missing inventory

I agree with this. Once you are set up and running on the free EV functions, I don't expect them to turn it off. The problem will be in buying a used 2015 and getting them to turn it on for you. CarNet will undoubtedly insist you buy the full package. I would expect that it would take a lot of...

    Missing inventory

If your sticker was issued in 2017, you can apply for new stickers that will expire 1/1/2022. https://www.arb.ca.gov/msprog/carpool/carpool.htm

    End of lease: next steps

Before you buy out the lease, you should know that the White stickers are only good through 12/31/2018. If the stickers were issued before 1/1/2017, you are not eligible for any further solo HOV access for that car. If your stickers were issued in 2017 or 2018, you can apply for the new Red...

Can I negotiate the buy-out price at the end of my lease?

Some of them are also going to Ukraine and Jordan. Jordan in particular has very significant tax exemptions for EVs.

Charging fault, charging port locked and won't let go

I don't remember the particulars, but I believe his on-board charger was replaced after this. However, he did say that ChargePoint was able to reproduce some of his problems.

Charging fault, charging port locked and won't let go

It shows an e-Golf that arcs when a ChargePoint Home EVSE is actively charging the car. The charge port lock was not engaged and the button was pressed to release the J1772 handle and the handle was pulled out. Big sparks.
