I'm betting it's gross because that's how the current e-Golf was specified. In any case, the best guess is that it will have about 124-130 miles EPA range. Motor output is also increased from 85kW to 100kW.
Inside EVs story from May 2016.
InsideEVs refers to it as 2017 model year, but I'm betting that battery will not arrive in the US for the 2017 model year. Likely spring 2017 calendar year for 2018 model year.

I wouldn't be surprised (but sad) if they withheld the e-Golf from national sales and waited for their dedicated electric vehicle platform to sell in all states.Tony said:Any recent confirmation of nationwide sale of e-Golf? I live in Florida and seriously considering it to replace my TDI when I turn it in next year. Have been reading a lot about the e-Golf and think it would work well for an around town duty (I have another car for travel). The dealer here is clueless!
johnnylingo said:I'm a bit skeptical on this 186 mile range figure. All the reports from a few months ago had it around 125, same as the 2017 i3, Focus, and Soul. VW could be setting themselves up for another consumer relations fiasco if they think pumping up the numbers to compete with the Bolt

Chevy announced today that they're going with an all states sale of Bolt later this year. Nissan Will introduce the next generation Leaf for national sale in September. VW is late to the game already; if they abandon today's demand for the e-Golf, it'll be much harder to get buyers to switch brand later.

The 2019 e-Golf is apparently getting a 48kWh pack.
Tony said:Expected in 2019, the electric version of the Volkswagen Golf 8 should be equipped with a 48 kWh pack with up to 420 kilometers of range in NEDC cycle.
