E-Golf not charging on Level 1 and Level 2 chargers

What problem specifically do you have, and what happens when you try to plug it in? If you’re getting a solid yellow light that never turns green and no error codes, that’s a common problem that’s solved by spraying the locking pin with silicon lubricant. You can search past threads for details.

Plug VW L1 EVSE into 30amp 220 NEMA 14-30 via adapter?

This is not my experience. For a long time I used a 12-gauge extension cord plugged into a non-GFCI wall outlet without tripping the breaker or generating much heat But there was no other load on that line. For comparison I’d regularly trip a different breaker if I used the microwave and...

    eManager preheat?

Also the old 12 amp EVSE got noticeably warm to the touch, almost hot. The 10 amp EVSE has been fine.

    Grabby brakes

Following up on this thread with my anecdotal experience: I've been driving in B mode the past month instead of my regular D mode, and I haven't encountered grabby brakes. My commute includes a couple of steep hills where I max out the regen. So the grabby brakes may be something specific to...

    2019 eGolf best run 152mi, 12mi left

I’m not proud of it but I once hit 0 miles on the guess-o-meter about 1.5 miles from home. I kept a close eye on the “Power” needle in the lower-left as a true indicator of range. By the last block the car moved at jogging speed.

    Certified Pre-Owned — Trustworthiness/Reliability?

I don't have answers to your questions, but I can understand why an owner in Canada might decide after 6-7 months that an e-Golf doesn't meet their needs. Depending on how cold it gets where you live, the range of a 2018 e-Golf can easily go as low as 75-80 miles in winter, and likely even...

ticking/tapping sound coming from behind the steering dash

I don't know what the sound is but I wouldn't worry about it. My 2019SE has made the same sound since it was new. The sound stops after about a minute.

    Grabby brakes

Good point. I max out the regen and switch to friction a couple of times per week trying to scrape the brake pads to get rid of the squeaky noise. (I have some nice steep hills on my way to work where I can do it). I’ll try it in B mode for a while to see if I can replicate the grabby feel...

    Grabby brakes

On a concurring note that it might be related to regen, I drive in D mode not B and I’ve never felt grabby brakes.

Looking for advice and recommendations in Bay Area for eGolf repair

Have you liberally sprayed the locking pin with silicone lubricant both with and without the charger plugged in, as described elsewhere on this board? The charging light remaining yellow is a symptom of the locking pin sticking. It’s such a common problem with the eGolf, though, that I’d be...

What's the best expected mi/kWh and speed to achieve it?

That's great! I would not have thought that was possible at 10 degrees C (50 degrees F) and a slight uphill. The key was mostly likely your speed of 60 kph (37 mph) with no stop and go. That speed seems to be around the sweet spot for the 2017 and later model years. That's good too. On my...

"Dramatic" reduction in cold weather range. Why?

In my 2019 SE (no heat pump) I lose about 10% of range on the Guess-O-Meter when the cabin heater is on.

Anyone have backlash in their drivetrain? (motor mount?)

2019 SE here. I occasionally get a clunk when in reverse, but I’ve never heard one when moving forward.

It looks like the lease info that was on ev-vin is now posted on electrek.co: https://electrek.co/best-electric-vehicle-leases/#VW Underneath each vehicle, the yellow boxes are factory lease deals and the blue boxes are offers from individual dealers. The same site also tracks purchase...

    my egolf range,over 300+

For those of us in the U.S., this is equivalent to 6.6 miles/kWh. Excellent range! I average 4.4 to 4.6 miles/kWh long term. The only way I could see getting 6.6 miles/kWh would be coasting downhill for 100 miles while coming home from Tahoe. :D

What's the going rate for e-Golf service in your area?

Around San Francisco the dealerships ask $275 to $450 for the e-Golf's standard 20,000-mile service. That seems like a lot for what's basically a tire rotation and visual inspection. I'm wondering if that's standard in the rest of the United States. What do they charge in your area?

    Faster Level 1 Charger

I do notice a big heat difference between the two. The Delphi charger that came with my 2016 SE would get almost too hot to touch, while the one with my 2019 SE gets barely warm. I assume that's the reason VW replaced the 12A charger with a 10A charger.

Battery charge port cover (door) latch INOP and charging socket locking INOP

Followup: my trouble with having to plug in the charger several times was in fact a lubrication issue with the locking pin, as f1geek said. I pulled out the silicon spray again and applied what I felt was a ridiculous amount of silicon to the locking pin, first with the charging handle...

Battery charge port cover (door) latch INOP and charging socket locking INOP

Yup, I've tried lubricating the locking pin with silicone spray and using compressed air to clean out the pin, per other threads here with the problem. What happens is that the 1st or 2nd time I plug it in, I hear quiet clicks from the charging port then the light turns steady yellow indicating...
