    rym size...

I'm not aware of any tests of this using the e-Golf. but I would imagine the physics generally suggest a lighter wheel (plus tire) would result in better efficiency. That said, the stock e-Golf wheel is rather aerodynamic, so if the replacement 15" wheel isn't as aero, that could negate some of...

    Speed governor

I have to post this occasionally because JoulesThief cannot understand that his off topic assaults are unwelcome. Here is how you block a troll: You can ignore a user by going to their profile and clicking "Add foe" under their name. For example, if you were tired to JT's irascibility, you...

it's spring 2020...where are the SEs??

We don't know if VW will make any more e-Golfs at all. They've stated there will be no model year 2020 e-Golf (after initially stating there would be), so my assumption is they have stopped producing them. It's certainly possible they'll make some more to use up existing parts inventory, but...

My limited experience with Michelin Pilot A/S 3+ tires

I also put these same tires in my 2017. I chose the 225/50 size on the stock wheels. No problems with fit. I've had nothing by great results, albeit with some decrease in range. I haven't tried to quantify the loss since the weather has been all over the place here. But the handling is SO...

    Hello!

Welcome! It's an awesome car and I'm sure you'll love it. If you're like me, you'll get spoiled by the awesome driving dynamics. It's painful when I have to drive our ICE car.

    electronic engine sound (e-sound)

The speaker is in the front right wheel well. If you turn your wheel to the left (or remove it) you can see a small panel in the front of the wheel well.

    Estimating Battery Degradation

Agreed. mpulsiv, everything you're saying fits with my understanding. I believe this is the best practice for maintaining battery life. I will note, however, that the difference between this best practice and a less cautious 70% average charge (for example) is likely insignificant. That...

    Your highest mileage before re-charging

In the US, the car is only rated for 125 miles, so 127 sounds about right. But the actual mileage you get depends almost entirely on the driving conditions (speed, weather, acceleration, braking, etc). The miles remaining estimation (lovingly called the guess-o-meter (GOM)) will change based...

How to remove oily stains on fabric seat cover

After spraying the stain I lightly scrubbed it with this upholstery brush (which I had forgotten about until you asked), though the brush was probably overkill. I also had a cheap chamois on hand that I blotted it up with, and that worked well. I could have easily just used the chamois to...

How to remove oily stains on fabric seat cover

I also bought a used 2016 SE that came with some seat stains. I used this Scotchgard and it cleaned them right up. (BTW, the forum software adds the tag in that URL, not me.) I had to use it a few times as the seats seemed to stain very easily. My 2017 doesn't seem nearly as sensitive.

VW registered 2020 e-Golf with CARB

https://ww3.arb.ca.gov/msprog/onroad/cert/pcldtmdv/2020/volkswagengroupofamerica_pc_a4130158_0_z_e.pdf Published on CARB's website today, VW registered the 2020 e-Golf with the California Air Resources Board. For anyone hoping they would increase the battery size, they did not. The range is...

Prevent car from telling off when stepping out.

Here's what I do: Turn off the car and open the door. Then (without closing the door and with your foot on the brake) turn the car back on. It'll stay on indefinitely now, as far as I know. I use this a lot when passengers are staying in the car when I run into a shop.

    Best strategies for increasing range?

I have found the number one strategy for increasing range is simply to slow down. The other stuff - coasting, D mode, B mode, etc - is small potatoes compared to speed. That stuff really comes down to driving preference (for example, one-pedal vs two-pedal driving). If you want to gamify the...

Need advice on buying a used 2016 e-Golf

There's no known user-facing way to check the car's battery health. It may be possible with an OBD adapter. No one knows for sure how these batteries will degrade generally. Anecdotal evidence suggests some slight degradation over time, though I personally haven't noticed any range drop over...

Looking to buy a used e-golf

My first e-golf was the same version you have - a 2016 SE with no DC fast charge and the 3.6kW charger. It was great! It's a fantastic city car. I never used it for long trips. I used it to commute and run errands around town. It's absolutely perfect for that. A 35-mile daily commute is...

    high pitch sound from motor?

I enjoy it too. It's just loud enough to remind me that there's a cool electric motor in there, but not loud enough to bother me.
