    Retrofit 35,8KWH battery in 24,2 KWH E-Golf

This is an interesting swap, however, I doubt anyone outside VW and perhaps a 3rd party battery upgrader (the name escapes me now, sorry) has the expertise necessary to answer your questions. Have you had a chance to connect with someone in VW engineering?

Charging fault, charging port locked and won't let go

JoulesThief, many of us on this forum are genuinely worried about you. Have you forgotten to take your medicine again?

Charging fault, charging port locked and won't let go

Just so you know, your replies come across as extremely arrogant. Try to focus on the issue instead of going off into an ad hominem.

    Android Auto very broken

Sadly, no. The e-Golf's Android Auto implementation is wired-only. Same for Apple Car Play. It's in the manual. Same even on 2017 with the Technology Package (Canadian package with 9.2" head unit, may be sold differently in other markets).

Charging fault, charging port locked and won't let go

If this ever happened on my 2017 I would be very, very, very pissed. To have this happen on any vehicle and to have to mess with pins and locksmith-style tools to disconnect the EVSE cable is just ridiculous. This should be one of those things in the car that just works smoothly, 100% of the time.

Electrical system failure: Stop! Sep 2017

Clearly the issue with the OP's vehicle is serious and unacceptable. However, let's be clear, it's not widespread. There is zero evidence it's more common for e-Golfs to suddenly die than it is for an average ICE vehicle. I would not worry at all.

2017 e-Golf: Get charging volts and amps

Is there a way to get these metrics for when the car is charging from the e-Golf itself? As you know the car only shows time remaining and SOC. I am looking for the volts and amps display, similar to that on a Tesla. Obviously some EVSE's present these metrics, however, some are basic and...

2017 VW 120 volt charger won't release from the car

The OP is being quite clear that he cannot unlock and get the handle out even if the lights are off. Assuming that's accurate it's a malfunction in the vehicle or EVSE.

2017 VW 120 volt charger won't release from the car

You are doing everything correctly. It's supposed to release easily. Bring it to the dealer for warranty service.

    Bike rack options?

I am looking to install a hitch on my 2017 e-Golf. I am a little concerned about reduction in ground clearance with the Curt 11412 hitch. Any comment from those who have it? And the pictures of the EcoHitch install seem to have expired. Can those who have it please repost? Also, are there any...

"Recuperation Mode 3" or Drive Mode "B" and other issues

#1 is another reason to avoid 100% charges unless the full range is required for a road trip. It's explained in detail in the manual. Another reason is battery health. Charge to 70-80% on an ongoing basis.

    E-Golf software update, Canada

I have an identical issue with mine. My guess is that OTA updates are not supported in Canada. The corresponding section in the manual is quite confusing. Let us know if you ever figure this out.

Weird question about e-golf battery charging

    a) Yes, li-ion batteries produce deadly fumes. Only while burning though. So avoid burning them to keep the chicks safe. b) Are the chicks cyborgs with J1772 ports? If so, yes, the cable is hazardous - they can unplug EVSE from the car and plug into themselves, causing electrocution. Always keep...

2017 e-Golf seats and seat cover compatibility

I am looking to purchase some nice neoprene (or similar) covers to protect the front seats from the dirt/water from various sporty activities. My VW came with the leatherette seats. Most seat cover manufacturers have yet to list 2017 e-Golf as a compatible model. So I am looking to confirm...

    Realistic Highway Mileage 2017 e-golf

You will certainly make it 107km on a fully charged battery at 100km/h, in any weather and with any number of passengers + cargo. No worries at all. In ideal conditions you may even be able to make it back on the same charge.

Charging from TT-30 socket at RV campgrounds

The model I ordered was the older base-model Juicebox 40. It has two trimpots for setting the current. One is for 120V and the other for 240V. The trimpots are behind screws in the case. So the max current setting can be customized by the user (subject to possible warranty considerations), but...

    2017 e-Golf - Slow charging at some L3 Chargers

I may be mistaken then. Perhaps L2 is sufficient for VW Canada to certify a dealership to sell e-Golfs. The question in my mind then is why would a dealership want to install DCFC if it's not required by VW Canada? The total cost for DCFC can run into tens of thousands. It would seem to make...
