    100 Mile Club

I wasn't initially aiming for the century mark, but when I saw it come into spitting distance, I decided to push a bit. A good chunk of this was freeway driving with the radio on; temperatures were between 50 and 64 F. Driving in the rain took a toll.

    220v installation in garage

So it sounds like I should push back and complain that the installation is not up to code. Does anyone have a precise electrical code citation that I can use when discussing this with the electrician or eMotorWerks? I started to a look at the 2013 California Electrical Code (downloads...

    220v installation in garage

Well, there is no 30A charger in the JuiceBox lineup, though 30A is the most the 7.2 kW charger draws anyway. Yes, it might have been better future-proofing to get the 50A breaker. The 40A breaker was $40.

    220v installation in garage

Yes, in the SF Bay Area, eMotorWerks (the JuiceBox folks) can bundle a 240V plug installation with a charger purchase for an additional $299 plus extra materials, assuming (a) the plug is getting installed reasonably close to the main breaker panel and (b) there's space there for a new breaker...

Charging networks in SF Bay Area?

I'm curious that there isn't more discussion of charging networks. Perhaps most folks figured out their charging needs early and haven't needed to look any further. As a new user, this is still an interesting topic to me. Signing up for ChargePoint was a no-brainer for me. In addition to...

2016 SE e-golf: 4 hours of charge time or not?

Yes, 3.7 hours is correct in my case. [Edit: Used miimura's copied image link to make it work correctly. Thanks!]

2016 SE e-golf: 4 hours of charge time or not?

For the record, I looked at my Monroney sticker again and did indeed see the charge time listed: "3.7 hours (240V)". I had previously looked for the charge time, carefully examining the lower portion of the sticker. Duh!

    The Trip Odometer

Thanks, that's a good reference. I got it to work in my 2016. A key point seems to be that the ignition has to be on. (Most of my exploration so far has been done sitting in the garage with the car powered on, but the ignition turned off.) Aside: Does it bother anyone else to use the word...

    The Trip Odometer

I agree there is a nagging disconnect between the documentation and the actual behavior. On my 2016 SE, I find the 0.0 does nothing with the odometer -- perhaps it's an artifact from other Golf versions. Instead, the "Since start" or "Extend. period" odometers can be viewed or reset through...

    Climatronic modes?

No worries. I suspect JoulesThief has fun crafting his responses, and I had a good chuckle from it myself. Thanks, I will give it a try. I had suspected there might be an unfussy way to do it.

2016 SE e-golf: 4 hours of charge time or not?

Then you don't have it. And that will eat your time and money on a public charger if it counts based on time. E.g., for $1/hr, you'll be paying around $0.30/kWh vs. $0.17/kWh @ 6 kW. If you have retained that sticker as hard documentation, maybe you have a chance of getting some settlement...

    Climatronic modes?

I see your point, though you've placed much heavier emphasis on "performance" than I intended. If I may rephrase, I'd just like some fresh air without turning on either heat or AC. The owner's manual apparently doesn't describe such a primitive option. But maybe the folks with longer...

My review of the various Pay Chargers around the area (SOCAL

As far as I know, ChargePoint doesn't get to read your odometer. Their miles/kWh are supposedly typical of the vehicle you've named in your ChargePoint profile. It works the same way on my 2016 SE.

2016 SE e-golf: 4 hours of charge time or not?

I agree with you. It's clear to me that VW is not proof-reading all of their documents for consistency. I have the fast charging option on my 2016 SE, and the window sticker showed "DC Fast Charging Package" (i.e., 7.2 kW + fast DC). The sticker also said "3.6 kW onboard charger." The folks...

    Climatronic modes?

Reading the 2016 e-Golf manual, I see that the Climatronic system has three modes linked to the driving mode: Normal: Climatronic in normal mode. Eco: Climatronic in consumption-optimized Eco mode. Eco+: Climatronic heating and cooling function switched off. What I'd like to see is a way to...

What range can I expect commuting from Marin to SF?

From a couple of drives in the new SE, its halogens are still way better than the ones I've seen in Priuses, ranging from my 2003 first generation car to a 2015. There's much better visibility over a wide swath of the road. Granted, the e-Golf is the first VW I've driven since my dad's 1970's...

2016 SE with fast charge option (DCP) is here!

Folks, My wife and I just leased a 2016 e-Golf SE with the DCP option (7.2 kW +CCS) from Capitol VW in San Jose. She was unhappy with the SEL color choices, so the rep took another look at the cars that had arrived earlier in the day, and noticed an e-Golf SE in the desired color with the DCP...

Mobile Hotspot on 2016 Egolf SEL

I don't have an e-Golf yet, so I can't check against your description. However, here's a procedure for configuring the infotainment system with a mobile hotspot, say, from a mobile phone or a UMTS stick...
