May have bitten off more than I can chew--road trip and general newbie questionsquestions

Ask yourself how much time you want to spend recharging, versus driving... You can drive 65 mph with no accessories on, no heater, no fan, nothing, and if it's cold and the air is dense, with no headwind or elevation changes, you'll get 3.6 to 4 miles per kilowatt. That's 16.25 kWh out of maybe...

    Colorado e-golfs?

4 years now with my 2015 e-Golf SEL, and I agree with you 110%. 55 is ok, 45 is a lot better.... 6.3 to 6.0 Miles per kWh seen spring ,summer and into almost November at 45 mph max on BLVDs and city traffic in Los Angeles. YMMV, I'm a patient driver that doesn't subscribe to herd mentality...

    Chargepoint plug too big

How, then, did they fully charge up your car before you took delivery of it?

    Spring-like noise when braking

My 2015 squeals, every morning, first time or three I put on the brakes, but almost always most noticeable when first braking from backing up. I consider it normal, almost every Vw I've owned, 3 passats and a few Touaregs, do the same thing.

    Tire pressure loss, your experiences

I run all of mine set up, cold, at 45 psi. Its fall , soon, so they will need to be checked every 2 to 4 weeks for air pressure, as the temps drop. Yes, they loose air, whether it's the alum rims or the bead seat, I don't know, just know that they lose air pressure. One side of your car...

What essential accessories did you buy?

A fully functional spare tire, jack and lug wrench.

Will this car work in the Central Valley?

Not quite enough range, IMHO, for your needs.

Loud thunk when going from R to P

Instead of making blanket statements, take your e-Golf into a dealership, demonstrate what you are talking about, and see if they can address your perceived problem. For all you know, the car is probably functioning as designed. If you feel VW's are so unreliable, why the hell did you buy...

Loud thunk when going from R to P

When parking, engage your park brake before shifting the lever from in gear to in "park". Conversely, when driving off, engage your car in gear, with your foot on the brake, at all times, then release the parking brake. That should remove all "clunking' drivetrain sounds. Any time you put...

    Make duplicate key without receiver

Call your local VW parts / service department, and ask for a quote. Then you'll know for certain. I would get a replacement made up, pronto. If you break or lose that one keyfob, then you're really in a mess.

    Any e-golf owners in Arizona?

Ihopethisworks, the EVSE you selected will work just fine. If it's chinese, and it breaks, you'll have no warranty coverage. If it's something like a emotorwerks or ClipperCreek,, you should have some warranty coverage. You might also just look on ebay for used EVSE chargers, maybe something...

Best charger for the 2016 eGolf please?

Any EVSE unit that is 240V and 30 amp capable with a NEMA 14-50 plug should provide everything you need to recharge your e-Golf. Make sure the EVSE is outdoor electrical rated. Make sure that the 240v plug in your garage is controlled by a 50 amp circuit breaker at the electrical panel.

Damaged(?) Battery - $36,000 to replace?

This is VW dealership induced, not corporate. VW has trained specialists here in the USA that they fly in to change out batteries. It's a 3 or 4 man team flown to location of the dealership. This dealership has figured out they have a sucker, namely you, and they are running you through the...

Which Level 2 Charger Works Best with 2019 SE?

If it take force, you are doing something wrong and you aren't paying attention to lining up the handle with the socket. I've had a 2015 almost 4 years and never experienced this with any handle except the very heavy CC fast charge handles, and that was because I was not aligning the handle...

2019 egolf range in real life?

I don't drive much over 45 mph, ever, on Blvd's and surface streets. I normally see 6.0 to 6.3 miles per kWh spring, summer and fall. Winter, I see 5.7 to 5.8 miles per kWh in the colder months here in So CA . I drive the e-Golf in an optimal miles per kWh situation, being retired, and...

    Questions

My 2015 SEL, using park assist to back up, very clearly uses all four speakers, in various locations, to tell me when I am close to an object. Use the audible in conjunction with turning your head around to actually see your proximity to objects around you when parking. No different than a...

    one-pedal driving in B

You will absolutely drive anyone driving behind you nuts with driving in "B" mode. Every time you start to lift the throttle, your brake lights automatically come on. That's not the case in D D1, D2 and D3. It's annoying as hell in stop and go traffic on the freeway. You also develop poor...

Vampire Drain for 2015 SEL Premium

Slim to none. However, you should try to keep your car at a full charge as short a time as possible between completing recharging and driving it off, to take the top charge off of it. I try to keep at least 1 tick mark off the top of the "fuel" gauge before I park my car overnight, if I...
