    Need new tires...

The only conclusion I can reach is that it's operator error that is causing your traction problems. Ecopia's are on tons of Nissan Leaf's, too. The complaints about being unsafe make you and your claims an outlier, statistically, in the law of averages. Outliers, statistically are thrown away...

    Best strategies for increasing range?

Best thing is to lower your top speed. BLVDS to Freeways, residential St.s to Blvds, in order of preference for roads to drive. A road that allows a top speed limit of 35 to 45 mph is ideal. Maintain your momentum as best you can, minimizing deceleration and regeneration and use of brakes, by...

    Vegas trip (SEMA)

Unless you got time to burn in Barstow, waiting to recharge, get a rental. Your e-Golf won't go very far on any charge doing 75 to 80 mph like all the rest of the traffic on I-15. It just isn't capable of storing enough energy to drive that fast pushing air out of the way, wasting energy.

Expected tire life on an e-Golf

I'll probably rotate my tires when the fronts get down to 6/32". The rears will most likely by then be at somewhere between 7 and 8/32". Probably replace them when down to 3/32" since I don't drive much in the rain at all. Too many idiots here in So CA on our roads, that don't slow down when it...

Buying a used Golf-E range question

As an example of degradation and range of battery.... I drive the same way, every day, on surface streets, mostly blvds with a 40 to 45 mph speed limit. 26 miles round trip. Live in Los Angeles suburb. When new, I would have the Guess -O -Meter showing 129 miles of range. I've got a 4 year...

Expected tire life on an e-Golf

24.5 k miles on mine, today... Bought it 4 years ago. 8/32" on the front and a little over 8/32" on the rear. Never rotated. Drive it nice and gentle, they'll last a long time. Drive for fun, and you can cut that in 1/2 or down to 1/3 the life. Depends on if you want to be the tortoise, or be...

Buying a used Golf-E range question

That range depends on so many external variables. Mainly it depends on you, and your driving habits, how poor or good they are, at being efficient and conserving momentum. Also where you drive, and how fast you drive. Be the turtle, drive slow and far, be the hare, and you'll be stopped...

Charging fault, charging port locked and won't let go

Wipe off the excess, once finished, also helps to lubricate that pin every 2 or 3 months with silicone. Don't wait for it to start sticking.

    SE vs. SEL Premium differences

I learned long ago, when I wasn't interested as much in working on my cars any more, to buy the car new, set up with all the features I felt I had to have. If it meant spending more for an upgraded package that had some features I really didn't need, then so be it. I wanted leatherette interior...

Brake Energy Recuperation aka Regenerative Braking Wears Out Brake Pads?

Please show other industry sources supporting your statement that braking gently wears the brake pads out more quickly than braking aggressively, Victor Marshall. Every VW dealership that measures my brake pad thickness while rotating my tires asks me how recently I did a brake job. I get...

How Can I Tell how Many Amps I'm Charging At?

It's not available, from the car. It might be available, from the EVSE you are charging from. Assume most public chargers will give you either 206V at 30 amps, or at 15 amps. Sometimes you'll find 240V x 30 amps in the wild, but it's not very common. There will be some people that are...

    Common problems

I've owned my 2015 SEL e-Golf 4 years and 24.5k miles. It's been in for one recall. That is it. I've rotated the wheels 1x, last month, and refilled the wiper fluid and put new wiper blades front and rear on it. That and keep it washed and waxed, religiously. Zero problems or maintenance...

$ave your money up and buy a 2017 or later.

Brake Energy Recuperation aka Regenerative Braking Wears Out Brake Pads?

Complete rubbish. All you have to do, on any german car, is look at how much brake dust is sitting on your rims between car washes, to know the statements above are patently false. Brake gently, and your brake pads last much, much longer. Brake hard and your pad and rotor life will be much...

    Common problems

Common problems are that very few were sold in the USA, maybe 3500-4000 the first year. Few owners still own them, and fewer still are on this board. It's not a BMW, they have been mostly problem free. Another common problem is owners that never read their Owner's Manual. Especially on...

    2017 E-Golf 'vibration/rumbling' issues at Highway speeds

Try putting 50 psi in your tires, cold air temp, first thing in the morning and take for a freeway drive at 60 + mph for 10 miles. Reduce air pressure down to 45 psi now that your tires are warmed up and hot. That should relieve the flat spots. If it doesn't, have VW replace the tires under...

May have bitten off more than I can chew--road trip and general newbie questionsquestions

Requirements to do this: You must have a full topped off charge before starting this trip. You must keep fans, heaters, and heated seats turned off. You must use the cruise control set at 55 mph, not touch the throttle to accelerate or pass anyone, and set shifter in D1 . If you do this...

Charging fault, charging port locked and won't let go

Try spraying some silicone spray on the pin that slides in and out and locks, every 3 or 4 months... no need to cut the locking tab. You are creating more problems than you are solving. Read your owners manual on how to properly use your keyfob to stop the charging cycle.
