Expected tire life on an e-Golf

Read your owners manual. These tires lose air. You don't wait for the indicator on the dash to tell you to check your tire pressure. You are expected to check and verify it every month or two. Its part of the responsibility of having a drivers license, maintain your equipment so that you are...

    Question about Charge Port Lock

No, that's a safety feature for DC FastCharge. Can NOT be disabled. Check features out on a car, before you buy it.

Official “what am I doing wrong” charging thread

Try this suggestion: Go on Youtube and try to find "How to set time of departure recharge on an E-Golf" and "How to charge up your e-Golf at home." You'll learn by watching others instead of by reading. If that doesn't work for you, take it back to the dealership you bought it from and ask...

2019 egolf range in real life?

If you go under "power management" on the infotainment center, what do you see for miles /kwh on most of your trips? I took a test drive in a 2019 SEL, on a normal drive, and struggled to get 5.3 miles / kwh, when I would have easily gotten 6 + miles per kwh in my 2015 SEL. I'd like to...

Official “what am I doing wrong” charging thread

The official best thing to do is read your owners manual. Just a basic suggestion... plug your EVSE handle in to charge port "gas fillup" port. Lock the car door with the keyfob remote. On the left side of the EVSE charge port are two buttons. Press the upper button, the one that...

I have done it. Took the plunge with a 2016 e-golf

Drive more, worry less... you'll figure it out on your own how to do better in miles per kWh.

    2016 e-Golf in hot Texas!

The Clipper Creek version at 12 amps at 120v adds 1.3 kw per hour to my battery, after recharging loses . I get around 6 miles per kWh. That works out to 7.8 miles of range being added per hour, with that EVSE unit. There are very few here that are getting 6 miles per kW in their travels...

START/STOP button right next to ECO mode button.

IMHO, it's nothing but sales gimmick. I never bother to change mine. Only thing I change with regularity when driving is D modes from D to D1, D2, and rarely D3. That's it. Maybe sometimes the HVAC temp and fan settings, if I am running those.

    CarNet issues

VW didn't "do it". They subbed it out to Verizon, who "did it"

    GTA Service recommendations

There's nearly nothing to service on an e-Golf. Check the tire pressure, add air, maybe rotate the tires, add windshield fluid, and check a bunch of things like windshield wiper blades and such. And wash the car. You can pretty much do all of that yourself and save some money, at home.

    CarNet issues

VW doesn't manufacture software or computers, they manufacture cars, cheap cars. You are completely unrealistic to expect a used VW e-Golf to compare feature wise to a Tesla. The valuations of the two aren't even close. Adjust your expectations to the $ you invested in your e-Golf. When...

Did you notice battery/range issues over time ?

I thought you didn't care about efficiency... you said cars are irrational.. 80 miles range on a charge is not at slow speed. Instead of making valueless comments, why don't you try, experiment, and after the experiment, report your own experiences and results in a more scientific and factual...

START/STOP button right next to ECO mode button.

I find it a non issue. I think the modes are a gimmick. Use some self restraint, and you can recreate the various modes yourself. Secondly, read your owners manual. VW recommends when to change modes, and when not to. It's not "weaseling" out when you don't read the owners operating manual...

How to remove oily stains on fabric seat cover

Buy a SEL with the leatherette interior, and you'll never have that problem.

    Best strategies for increasing range?

Try setting the air pressure in your tires to 45 psi cold, first thing in the morning, at day break. That should help a little bit too.

    2019 EGolf heater operation

If you want more range per recharge, dress appropriately for the weather, and only heat up the layer of air that's close to your skin. In other words, layer up your clothing so you aren't cold and don't need the heater or seat warmer.
