    Best strategies for increasing range?

I'm not sure if it would be the battery. What I have observed, though, in 5 different 2019's is that no matter how nice or how "Old Man" I drive any of them, I really, really struggle to get to 5.3 miles / kWh. At first I thought it was just an outlier or two. But trying consistently, with...

    Crazy and scary issue

Always video record events like this with time stamps on your smart phone when happening. Then show the video to the service advisor at your local VW. It documents the problem for the future, in the event that they can not duplicate and say it's not a problem. The event is neither crazy, nor...

No 2020 e-Golf after all (original press kit updated on 10/29/19)

Interesting. The Arteon looks like it's based on the Audi A7 platform, a fastback hatchback. Still not offered in a TDI version. Maybe someday full electric?

Driving in B mode often can cause issues?

I only shift to d1, d2 and then d3 with my foot off the accelerator. I will usually be slowing down for a stop sign or stop light, so my foot is already covering the brake, if needed. When I come to a complete stop, or if the light turns green, I just hold the shifter to the right side, for...

    Newer e-Golfs at a loss in Miles/kWh

https://insideevs.com/news/379026/2020-volkswagen-e-golf-lower-epa-range/ In another post here, somewhere, I noted that I have test driven 5 different 2019 SEL models in the past week, and that I am struggling in around town driving to get 5.3 miles / kWh. This is in comparison to my 2015 SEL...

    help estimate my capacity

Impossible to do, not enough information. Here's how you can get a better idea of capacity. Give your car a full charge. Drive a big round trip to the exact same starting point where you charged, until you have about 15 to 20 miles left on a charge. Add up the miles you traveled on that...

    Upgrade to LED headlights

I haven't tried LED's, but I have installed aftermarket HID's in all 3 passat TDI's that I have owned. Significantly brighter than even LED technology, currently, at least compared to my 2015 SEL e-Golf. The light cuttoff is clean and non irritating to on coming traffic, in the passat...

    Question about Charge Port Lock

Here's a tip for you... buy a 2016 SE with the slow 3.6kWh on board charger. The charging port doesn't lock on that particular model.

    Best strategies for increasing range?

Your assumptions are incorrect. I actually got on freeways today to look at another new 2019 SEL. 139 miles, round trip. During rush hour traffic. Driving speeds were considerably above your 40 mph claim, and zero drafting took place. This was the 6th 2019 e-Golf that I have test driven...

Suggest you generate the data yourself, then present it here. Go find someone else to troll.

Engine chirping noise at less than 10 MPH

Drive more, worry less. These cars are so quiet, you now hear almost every operational noise, if driving around without music playing.

    Level two charging

Your e-Golf requires a dedicated circuit line and breaker for recharging. You don't want to burn your home down from an electrical fire by ignoring this need.

    Spring-like noise when braking

Listened to 3 e-golfs, brand new, that I test drove. I got the spring sound on all of them... but only when I side stepped the brake pedal to hit the throttle, instead of releasing the brake pedal to the upper stop, and then putting my foot on the throttle. YMMV, all 3 of them did it, that I...

    2019 e-Golf warranty?

Oct 6th 2019 came and went. I am seeing GOM ranges of 113 to 115, now that the car is 4 years old and at 24,500 miles on the odometer. Not sure if it's miles or age decline, for the condition of the battery range, or both. No DC fast charges at all in the past year, 99% of my charging at home...

    SPARE TIRE NOT!

I would not expect a loaner for a 1 hour job, installing, balancing 4 tires, from VW. Lack of planning on the owners part doesn't make it VW's problem. Tires are a wear item.

Expected tire life on an e-Golf

Buy one used on Ebay, or visit your local VW dealership and order a replacement. Don't be so cheap. I have bought a fair amount of used VW's in my lifetime, and if the owners manual isn't in the glove box, I consider that a sign of neglect by the previous owner. It's inexcusable, and I pass...

Expected tire life on an e-Golf

The sensors work by rotational speed of each wheel. When one tire gets lower in pressure, it's rotation speed changes compared to the other 3 tires, and a sensor goes off noting that tire pressure is not correct.

    Question about Charge Port Lock

Ignorance is bliss. Seems to be a theme around here with some of the folks from Nor Cal. Poor problem solving skills or don't read the owners manual. Maybe it's a generational thing. Certainly no respect for elders, or folk perhaps older and wiser. Oh well, not my loss.

    Question about Charge Port Lock

caveat emptor A reasonably intelligent person does their due diligence before buying anything. It has nothing to do with morals. More a lack of common sense being displayed on a BB. Don't redirect when it's you with all the problems you are unable to solve yourself.

    charger failure/VW policy failure

I'm not going to be the one to wait for failure. I bought a used one off of Ebay as a backup unit, in case mine ever dies. Never hurts to maintain a spare.
