Only 293 US egolfs sold in June

I looked at the Leaf once, then I couldn't bear to look at it again  I agree that a lot of the problem is (lack of) marketing. I don't know about the West coast, but over here on the East, I've only seen eGolfs promoted once I'm on a dealer's website and then (obviously) only if they're...

    AC Failure

Thanks... I guess it's a trip to the dealership for me. Does anyone know if I'm obliged to go back to the dealer I leased the car from, or can I take it anywhere?

    AC Failure

As an aside, I noticed that turning Max AC off instantly added 10 miles to the estimated range :)

    AC Failure

As of Friday, my AC has stopped working. The lights in the AC or Max AC buttons still light up and the fan still runs in auto as if it was trying to cool the car but only ambient air is coming out of the vents. Could it be a fuse for the heat pump that's the problem? If so, does anyone know...

    EZ Pass?

That's where mine is and it works well.

    Another safety sticker recall?

At some point the car will need a service, so it won't have to wait until the end of the lease, but I won't be rushing to do this one!

    Another safety sticker recall?

I just got a letter telling me that there is another safety sticker recall. Apparently the vehicle loading information was not printed onto the appropriate certification label in production. Rather than sending a sticker, this time I have to go to a dealership to have them apply and overlay to a...

    new carnet web site...

Are there moderators on this board? Shouldn't this topic be in the sub-forum that's dedicated to CarNet?

I cannot get charging to stop at 80%. I have no cell phone

As I said, I can understand why owners who want to keep the car for a long time are concerned about prolonging the battery as long as possible. I'm still not convinced that we have access to enough data or knowledge of how the car actually manages its battery pack to know that charging to an...

I cannot get charging to stop at 80%. I have no cell phone

I can maybe see why people who own the car and are planning on keeping it longer than the 8 year warranty on the battery pack might care about limiting the charge level, but for everyone who's leasing, why not have maximum range available when the car is charged? After you've used it the first...

    Maximum range shown

In the New England winter the most I saw was 67 but now I see 105 or more on a full charge. I haven't seen more than 110 yet though.

    Which Level 2 EVSE?

I've got the Schneider and have had no issues with it. I don't use delayed charging though, so I don't know if it's compatible with that.

    Automatic wipers

I think it is the intermittent setting. That's where I leave mine and it seems to work. You can use the adjuster on the top of the lever to set how sensitive it is to rain. Mine worked well this morning. Intermittent most of the time then went to full speed when I went through a large puddle...

"infotainment" needs a lot of work

I haven't actually felt with the SD card in my e-Golf. I just know it's there somewhere because I've got an empty case for it. Again, coming from the previous generation Golf infotainment system, the graphics, touchscreen and physical controls are all improved, so I don't think you're making an...

"infotainment" needs a lot of work

What does the 2012 Beetle use as the source for maps data? My 2010 GTI used a DVD downloaded to a spinning hard drive inside the unit, so SD cards seems an improvement over that.

    Why EV?

That lease vs buy decision is lease a new e-Golf vs buy a used Leaf though... they're not the same car. Personally, I had signed up for the Leaf before it was launched but passed when it was actually shown. The e-Golf was the first mid-market electric car I actually liked so until there are used...

    Why EV?

Sorry, I don't mean to derail this thread, but I don't see an easy way to split it into a new one... The money that's been created through the various quantitive easing schemes has largely gone into bank reserves, not into the general economy. This was intentional to stop more banks failing. In...

    Why EV?

No, I didn't freeze. I used the heater as needed and the heated seat. Although the heat in ICE is a free byproduct, the electric heat in the e-Golf is instant which is nice on a short commute. In the 10 min it takes me to get to work, my ICE would have just about warmed up  Where are...

    e-golf rims

A beautiful country - I was there in November and can't wait to go back. I'm surprised VW aren't shipping more to Iceland. I'd have thought with your plentiful electricity that it would be a good market. I thought about changing the wheels, but I never really liked the Detroit wheels that were...

    Why EV?

My range estimate was mid to high 60s on a full charge in the winter (around Boston) and now it's mid to high 90s. Make sure if you take a shorter lease that it still qualifies you for the rebates. Around here it had to be at least 35 months.
