    key fobs mystery

So the "replace key fob battery" warning came on the other day. I check and it had 3.03V so I replaced it with a new one CR2025, 3.32V, no good. The Little red LED on the fob didn't light up when a fob button was pushed. I got out the spare fob and put in a different new CR2025, 3.30V...no joy...

    SPARE TIRE NOT!

I picked up a 2016 golf spare tire/wheel for about $100 delivered from TX, looks like it might have come from a flood car but was never mounted. About $10 for the plastic retaining piece from Quirk Parts that fit right into the spare wheel well. We had a jack and lug wrench from our junked 2000...

Which 240 EV charger should I buy ?

we have a 40A clipper creek, hard wired. It's has been faultless operation. We just plug it in when we get home as we have all our power from a grid tied, net metered, solar tracker. We keep the 120V charger by our spare tire (we bought a temp spare from a 2016 gas golf) but have never had to...

    e-Golf: long-term reliability

the only "issue" with our 2 year old 2015 SEL is the rear brake rotors are a bit rusty from the fact they just aren't used that much with the regenerative braking. We're in rural NH where they use a lot of salt/sand. It's passed inspection but the fellow that inspects our cars commented on it...

How many days??? Idle without charging!!

we just left our 2015 sel for 25 days at home when we were away. It was still fully charged when we got back, not to worry I'd say. When we got home and plugged it back in it only charged a couple minutes and I left it locked under our carport.

Is it true non-Bosch level 2 chargers can be problematic?

Our electric coop doesn't offer off peak rates so we don't use that feature as we are 100% solar but grid tied. We just plug it in when we get home and unplug it when we leave.

Is it true non-Bosch level 2 chargers can be problematic?

Our 40A Clipper Creek works fine with our 2015 SEl. No problem ever

    2017 eGolf in the Midwest?

To constructively answer your comments... - My wife is not selfish. I would encourage you to share a recent miscommunication from your marriage (are you even married?) so that I can pass judgement on your spouse. - You can't buy a new e-Golf for cheaper than this - at least not outside of the...

    rear view mirror

Anybody else around that doesn't like the "self dimming" inside rear view mirror? That is the worst feature on our 15 SEL eGolf IMO and we have one in our 2015 Passat TDI SEL too, we hate them. When did we get so lazy we can't reach up and flick the tab at the bottom of a mirror? I'm sure it...

OEM Spare Tire Setup for e-Golf

the spare tire "bolt" showed up a few days early, simple to install, just push down into the slot in the bodywork and twist 90*, it locks into place. It's exactly the same as the setup in our 2015 SEL TDI Passat. 1K0803899D is the part number if anyone needs it. So for $112 we now have a...

OEM Spare Tire Setup for e-Golf

I found a 16" temp spare from a 2016 Golf gasser, $105 including shipping. It arrived yesterday, it has never been mounted as the paint on the lug bolt holes is "virgin". It fit in the spare tire well just fine. I have a OEM retainer nut coming from Quirk parts $8. We kept the jack and lug...

OEM Spare Tire Setup for e-Golf

Does anyone know if a 16" temp spare from MK7 will fit both the spare tire well under the cargo area floor as well as properly on the hub? I've have located one about 100 miles from home and want to confirm before I drive over and pick it up.

    Charging battery in cold weather?

increased tire rolling resistance, denser air to push out of the way, stiffer lube in bearing, snow tires if your using them, defroster, seat heat, etc

Winter driving impressions - First snow

I noticed a big drop in the range the other day. When I got to the local ski area after driving there in a moderate snow event the wheel wells were packed solid with snow/slush. I used my ski pole to remove a lot of it and discovered a decent increase in range on the way home. The drag and...

Winter driving impressions - First snow

we've found our 15 SEL typically drops 10-15% in range in the winter using the defroster/heater sparingly. We do have General Altimax Arctic studded winter tires. Heated seats and heated gloves work well. Our first year we used B mode but found an excessive buildup of rust on our rear rotors...

    Heathed windshield at night

I drove a TT for many years at night. I haven't noticed any difference with our eGolf windshield but granted I don't drive at night as much anymore. It's the a#%holes who don't dim their high beams or have their headlight adjusted improperly that bothered me the most. Also Turdodor Prius...

EV Credit not rescinded in Senate Bill.

Meanwhile big oil gets a lower tax rate..... we'll need the lube though, as part of the 99%, we know where we are taking it. Why not a bigger gas guzzler tax at under say 30mpg average?
