What are the Pros and Cons in Minimum Battery Charge level

It's the level the car will charge to immediately when plugged in, ignoring charge timers. If there are no charge timers the car will just charge to 100% anyway. In my case I have charge timers set to 60% right before departure, with 40% minimum charge. If I plug in after a trip with less than...

    eGolf - Lease or Buy

The lease is the safe bet. Chances are, used values will plummet when longer range EVs take over the market. Personally, I bought with cash, planning on driving mine "into the ground".

    charging to 90%

It's not just you - mine mysteriously charged to 100% on Tuesday August 8. I didn't touch the timer and it normally goes to 60% so that was a surprise.

    e-Golf in Kansas

Rumor has it they have to fly someone out to service it at your local dealership for warranty work if local techs aren't trained, but next year's model will reportedly be sold nationwide so if I were in Kansas and wanted to buy new, maybe I'd just wait.

    Subwoofer

The car uses 12-15 kW to drive down the road at freeway speeds. At max 85 mph average power can exceed 20 kW. Few amplifiers will equal this power draw, to say the least. The onboard DC-DC converter is described as 2.5 kW here.

    How Green is your EV?

Interesting, also in socal where we are mostly powered by natural gas so my result was 109. For someone living in Denver, however, it reports 43 MPG. That's a dirty grid!

Carplay quit on my 2016 eGolf SE all of a sudden

Did you swap for a high quality cable? I had a cable fail and the cheap replacement didn't work. Third cable is working great.

Most Miles You Have Driven In One Single Day?

JT, it seems you just have the SI symbols backwards. As f1geek explained, kW measures power and kWh measures work or energy (specific power over time).

    Car-Net update on 6/2/17

It does seems to me that the app was re-done from scratch. It's more basic but status updates actually work now, which is a nice improvement. Perhaps VW will flesh this out over time if it's now handled in-house. Also, removing the account number and just requiring the same credentials as the...

    Interesting charging cycle observation

Mine just runs the coolant pumps and grill shutters. Maybe a failsafe to keep the charger from overheating when the car wakes up. Doesn't do it while unplugged.

Optimum charging to maximize battery life

Since you have the 2016 model, charge timers can be set up in "e-manager" accessible through the car menu. You can set up a charge location for x% (in increments of 10%) of battery charge and select that under one of the charge timers. I've heard the 2015 model requires using the car-net...

Optimum charging to maximize battery life

I'm carefully trying to maximize my car's battery life as I own the car and am similarly pleased with it. The battery website linked below indicates limiting charging to ~3.92v/cell or 60% maximizes pack cycle life with the NMC cathode chemistry like the e-golf uses. Regular use drains my...

    2017 Volkswagen e-Golf: first drive

I wonder what the new black circles on the power electronics module are for: Pie-in-the-sky dream would be for an optional front charge port like the GTE: Yes, I want redundant charge ports :P

    Squeak coming from front end?

The brakes make some noise with the wheel turned pulling out of the garage. Suspension also squeaks over speed bumps. Neither would be noticeable on an ICE car... no worries here.

    Regenerative Braking Drive Modes Gimmicky?

Some of the RWD electric cars - Tesla & BMW i3 in particular since optional wheels & tires have staggered sizing which can't be rotated between F&R - seem to chew through rear tires and one theory attributes that to this drivetrain configuration's extra rear tire scrubbing under hard regen...

    Any e-golf owners in Arizona?

I can't help but feel the last part I bolded sounds disingenuous - I would expect JT's interest lies more so in selling a 2 model year old car for what was paid for it, $15,300 + TTL as mentioned in this thread:

First week - am I doing it right ?

At $0.19/kWh my e-golf is about half the cost to fuel as a 30 mpg car at current gas prices, so parity at $0.40/kWh sounds about right.

    108 miles range?

My safe rule-of-thumb is 80 miles on the freeway, 100 miles on city streets. So, a half charge is either 40 freeway or 50 city miles without pushing the limit. That makes each eighth 10 or 12.5 miles in my head. I seldom look at the estimated range; it psyches me out seeing it jump all over the...

    Regenerative Braking Drive Modes Gimmicky?

Yes & brake lights only in B mode. D1-3 are no brake lights (D3 is my favorite because of this).
