Loud thunk when going from R to P

Neutral is not needed so my ideal: 1. Stop with your foot on the brake 2. Engage parking brake 3. Release the foot brake 4. Place the shifter in "Park" The reason for releasing the foot brake before park is to prevent the car from moving after placing it in park; the front wheels will roll...

    Upping the speed limiter

My guess is that someone just chose a nice round number. Other EVs like the Opel Ampera-E are limited to 150 kph (93 mph) just like the Euro e-golf. Also it is conceivable that the speed limit was reduced to 85 to reduce battery overheating in hot western states, heat which Europe rarely sees...

    Best practices for charging

Personally, I charge the car to 60% daily right before a 14 mile round trip. This leaves the battery between 40% and 50% most of the time which some sources say is ideal for minimizing degradation: https://batteryuniversity.com/learn/article/how_to_store_batteries However, for days I need to...

    Charge to 80 or 90?

Truly "optimal" is closer to 60% but the car is pretty useless then. I'd do 80 unless you need the range.

24 Month Lease NOT eligible for $2500 CVRP Rebate

That's a bummer. The 24 month lease makes sense for high-earners who are not eligible for the rebate anyway. The dealerships ought to be aware of this and market it as such.

    Max Wattage

Hard wire the inverter to the battery using a separate relay controlled by the ignition. While charging or driving, the car should handle about 200 amps on the 12v circuit before it starts to drain the lead acid battery.

2019 battery pack for 2015 and newer eGolfs!

My conservative guess is that they'd find a used pack that's slightly above the 70% threshold to give you since that's all VW is on the hook for.

    Key fob battery life

I replaced mine for the second time at 3 years of ownership. So, 18 months average so far. For me, a small price to pay for the convenience of KESSY.

Found my battery's aging %, seems low -- or is it?

Interesting indeed... here's mine, build date 6/15 with 20,500 miles/33.000 km: I have been "babying the battery" charging only to 60% since I don't use the car for my commute and drive it only 13 miles most days.

fell in love and bought a 2016 SE

Just set a charge timer for some arbitrary low value (50% or whatever) and set minimum charge to 80 or 90%. That way it always charges to 80 or 90% immediately when plugged in and stops, waiting for a charge timer which never comes into play.

    Driving 100% in B mode?

Same experience here, except one time I was turning into a tight driveway in D3 and the brake lights definitely did come on (it was night and I could see the CHMSL reflect in the rear window). I think if you give the car a lot of steering angle it will scrub off speed fast enough in D3 to...

Is Car Net subscription mandatory for Mobile App usage?

I think for me, the most economical subscription on a 2015 would be to set it and just fork over $17.99 for one month if the settings ever need to be changed.

Transmission B Mode and Brake Lights on deceleration

D3 gives almost as much regen as B but without brake lights - I prefer it in traffic.

Does playing loud music drain battery faster?

If listening to the CD relaxes your driving style even the slightest bit, you will save energy overall.

    TDI to e-Golf?

This is a preference setting as I had a different experience: I liked the (heavy) steering feel on my old hydraulic rack-equipped sport package BMW but for me, switching this parameter didn't seem to add any feedback to the e-golf. Instead, I felt it exacerbated the numbness of the steering...

    Max charging amps

Charging at the full 7.2 kW is only 0.2C on a 2017; I would not worry about damaging the battery at that rate. DC fast charging is well in excess of 1C and will certainly heat the pack. Since the 8 year warranty only promises to repair the battery to 70% capacity (i.e. if it's at 65% they...

    Longer life by skipping regen?

You may have missed the part about "full regen" which would be with the energy needle all the way to the left and similar charge rate to DCFC. Of course, no highways are steep enough to keep the needle pinned to the left but I don't know of any roads, either. If your car and driver weighs 3500...

    Longer life by skipping regen?

If we can agree that heat is the enemy of battery life, I suspect sustained driving at high speeds will cause more heat in the battery than heavy regen ever could, since there is no road on earth that will allow full regen for more than a few minutes, if that.

First DC charge - then a lack of charge overnight?

There is a roundabout way by having any departure timer active and then increasing your minimum charge level to the desired %. The departure timer settings are arbitrary because the minimum charge should be a higher %, but that should get it to work the way you want.

Charging handle lock on 2017 e-Golf

e-golfs without DC fast charging don't have the locking mechanism
