    Charging port Egolf 2015

Try this web site to decode the VIN. The one shown is the leased car that we returned. It shows the model year, but got the trim wrong. It was actually a LE (Limited Edition) trim. https://www.faxvin.com/vin-decoder/result?vin=WVWKP7AU5FW907055 https://vpic.nhtsa.dot.gov/decoder/Decoder NHTSA...

This is the Menu button (inset in the center climate control dial) that you press to manually activate the heated windscreen.

    Charging problem

JuiceBox support is generally very helpful. You could also ask another EV owner to come by and try it to see if it works with their car.

AAA Nor Cal EVgo Discount program

There is a new promotion from AAA Northern California. By linking your AAA membership to your EVgo account, you can get the EVgo Membership per minute pricing without paying the monthly fee. This is a good deal if you don't use EVgo chargers every month...

Why spend over $600 for L2 chargers if $275 Tesla Connector is fine?

If you get the Tesla Mobile Connector with the J1772 connector already fitted, it's the same cost as other 240V EVSE units. The main benefit is that it's more portable and it has smart adapters available for almost any North American outlet...

Did you notice battery/range issues over time ?

On a 2017+ e-Golf with the 35kWh battery, I would charge it daily to 80% or 90%. We had a 2015 and there was not enough spare range for emergencies to charge it to anything less than 100%.

California CVRP Rebate Program Changes Dec 3, 2019

The CVRP program is changing to reduce per vehicle rebates so that the program funding will last through the year even with higher eligible vehicle sales volume. Full information is available here: https://cleanvehiclerebate.org/eng/faqs/what-should-i-know-about-december-3rd-program-changes...

No 2020 e-Golf after all (original press kit updated on 10/29/19)

Porsche is a small volume maker, so the compliance rules are different. I have not seen anything formal, but I think that VW and Audi are pooled for compliance purposes. However, if they had a good reason to separate them, it may be possible. Polestar and Volvo are separated for some reason...

    2019 eGolf Prices Paid

On October 29th, 2019 VW modified the Model Year 2020 announcement originally made on August 6th, to indicate that they pulled the e-Golf and that it will no longer be offered for the 2020 model year. They had already gone through EPA certification for 2020 and it still appears on the...

    charger failure/VW policy failure

I don't think VW has bought the Delphi unit in the last 2-3 years, so I'm not surprised they provide the current unit, made by TE, upon replacement.

    Dolly towing behind a motorhome??

IMHO, the only risk is related to the electric parking brake which engages on the rear wheels. If you can park the car and turn it off without setting the parking brake, that is a start. The parking brake makes an obvious noise, so you would know if it engaged automatically when turning off the...

VW registered 2020 e-Golf with CARB

The 2020 e-Golf is on FuelEconomy.gov too. WTF? The efficiency and range are now lower?

    eGolf as emergency power source

In the thread linked below, people show that you can have the traction battery provide power to the 12V system for an extended period so that you can run a 12V power inverter to keep your refrigerator and some other small loads running during an outage. Forget about powering your whole house or...

Buying a used Golf-E range question

There are two aspects to "range". One is the usable energy in the battery and the second is what you ask the car to do with it. The 83 or 84 miles is the EPA rated range of the 2015 and 2016 e-Golf cars. That is based on a prescribed test procedure and adjustment factors. As @JoulesThief...

Looking to buy a used e-golf

It sounds like you've found one of the base model 2016 e-Golf SE without the fast charge option. This means that you have no chance to ever DC fast charge the car and you are limited to 3.6kW AC charging. This is very limiting. For most practical purposes, you would be limited to driving 80...

    PGE new EV rate plans

Lots of people got the "60 day notice", likely every single account on EV-A. Some people have reported that they called the Customer Service number (solar department) and upon further investigation they were told that they were sent the notice in error and would be grandfathered and were given a...

Damaged(?) Battery - $36,000 to replace?

The fundamental problem with this situation is that VW expects this kind of road hazard damage to be covered by insurance. They have no motivation to provide a service that can address this in a cost effective fashion. If the OP had insurance coverage, the car would have been totaled due to the...

battery capacity like in a Leaf

There is no user accessible State of Health like on the Leaf instrument panel. The only way to get this from an e-Golf is with an aftermarket tool like OBDEleven.

Vampire Drain for 2015 SEL Premium

Vampire drain is not a thing on an e-Golf like it is on a Tesla. The VW shuts down completely and has almost no 12V drain while parked either. If you're going on vacation or will leave the car parked for an extended period without driving it, leave the car 40%-70% charged and just leave it like...

    BTC power EVpump failure

The gray colored BTC charging units installed by the Irvine Company at their properties are notoriously poorly maintained at both their southern California and Northern California locations. In the future, make sure to use chargers that are operated by a major charging network if you're...
